This club has two regulation eighteen hole courses. Guest are not allowed to play either course unless accompanied by a club member. The 1934, 1950, 1971, and 1981 U.S. Opens were played here. "Golf Digest" rated the East Course 5th best out of "America's 100 Greatest Golf Courses" for 1995-96, and 8th best for 1997-98. It was also rated as the #1 "Best in State" course for 1995-96, and 2nd best for 1997-98. Other awards include "GOLF Magazine's" ranking of 7th among the "100 Greatest Courses in the U. S." for 1995, and 9th in "GOLFWEEK's" category of "America's 100 Best Classical Courses" for 1997.
